I went to the Golden Gate bridge too -the top was in the fog, but it probably made it seem even taller. I wanted to ride down Lombard St - yeah - whatever to that. It's only a block long (not sure why I had it in my mind that is was much longer) and the line to drive down it was annoying long. It was a beautiful road - more like a garden that you could drive through than a street.
