Quote of the week

It's not that some people have willpower and some don't. It's that some people are ready to change and others are not.

mini storm

This was another action packed weekend. It started out with a fun night of dancing with Leah on friday evening, followed by some fun turns on the backside of Mt. A on Sat morning. It was pretty warm last week so the snow pack was solid (ice that is) but there was about 4" of powder on top of it. Pretty good skiing really and an easy skin up. Julie had a group of us over for dinner on Sat. evening and it was nice to share a "detox" meal with friends. Sun. morning was fairly warm so I snuck in a nice long trial run before the clouds moved in and opened up. It was nice to have my workout done by noon before it got cold and rainy. It made going to a Sunday matinee very enjoyable.

full moon eclipse

I hope everyone was able to see the full moon eclipse this evening. We were very lucky out here in southern OR. The weather forcast was predicting cloudy skies and rain, but in the middle of the afternoon the clouds began to part and we ended up having clear skies. I had a great view of nature's show right from my back porch so I was taking it in. It was nice to be able to run inside and cook dinner while I watched. I must say, this dinner rocks too. So simple, but delicious! Salmon with brown rice and mango sauce. yummy.

breakin out Eddy

It has been 2 long months since I've been out on my Eddy. It's been great skiing and cold and since I have no aspirations to race this year - why torture myself on the trainer. Well, here's why - I made it all of 45 miles in 3.5 hours today and I was nursing my legs back into town. Pathetic! Tele skiing is making me strong, but doing nothing for my pedal power or endurance. It was nice to get out on the bike though. I have missed riding and it felt good to be back in the saddle. It reached 50 today and no rain, despite the looming clouds and overcast skies. No skiing this weekend. It managed to warm up enough on Wed. night to rain on the mountain and destroy all of the wonderful powder from last weekend. oh well - maybe thes warm temps melted that nasty crust so we'll have some more good spring skiing like conditions this week :)

it just keeps coming...

Another 4.5 feet of snow this week so I skied the mountain yesterday and today. The back country is sketchy since it hasn't really stopped snow or blowing for 3 days. It was nice to have two days back to back of riding the lift and getting face shots. What luck - 2 powder days on a weekend - this is rare. I am so tired now and I have that weird feeling like I am floating. Kind of like riding too many whirly rides, but not nauseating.

No pictures though , but what fun is it to look at photos of various shades of white :)
